In adequacy

There are times when I feel inadequate, that I don’t measure up, pass muster, prove myself, or generally feel worthy. When I feel inadequate, I am really telling God that I don’t trust that He knows what He’s doing, and that He’s placed me in the wrong place. I forget that I am where I am for a reason, will be here for a season, and should He desire, at the right time He will move me somewhere else. His grace truly is sufficient for me. If it’s not, then I haven’t really grasped the concept of how much His grace really means to me.

Get to know what you’re good at

Searching for a new career can be tough. I should know. I started out in my teens wanting to draw comic books for a living. In my early twenties I took restaurant and retail jobs to subsidize my new dream of becoming a rock musician. While the dream never died, it became evident that I had to stop working in wait of a dream, and find ways to live the dream while at work.

It all begins with a blog

If I already know how to design websites and program web applications, why did I choose to build my site with WordPress? Frankly, as a married dad with two busy kids I don’t have time to wade through lines of code to figure out how to break something in order to change its design. I’ve worked under the hood of commercial and open-source CMSes in the past, but this product took me less than half an hour from install to first post. I look forward to playing more with this system as I build my own personal look. For now, the content is king.

Standby for take-off

While using Google to search the web for solutions to my Toshiba M400 Tablet PC stylus problem, I found new terms to use in the search. For the past week I’d been asking for results that included the words “Tablet PC”, “stylus”, “resume from”, “standby” and “hibernate”. After a few days with no success, The thought occurred to me that I should returning to the source: Wacom’s website.

Tablets of silicon

I should have figured that Moses was onto something when I read he returned from the top of Mt. Sinai with the Ten Commandments on tablets of stone—after all, he was a revolutionary. Until October I was either chained to my desktop or buried under the weight of my 10lb. desktop replacement. In my new, “Tablet of Silicon”, I’ve found my centre—in terms of measured productivity, and not mere philosophical speculation.
